With its comfortable seating and stunning plane-spotting opportunities, Pearl Lounge provides a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of the airport. However, the lounge is far from perfect. Read our detailed Pearl Lounge review.

Pearl Lounges at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport

Stockolm-Arlanda Airport is Sweden's busiest airport. As a popular transfer point, many passengers connecting at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport are looking for comfortable airport lounges. There are three Pearl Lounges at the airport and one of them is at Gate C37 in Terminal 4.

Terminals 4 and 5 are connected so Pearl Lounge by Gate C37 in Terminal 4 can easily be accessed from both terminals. However, there is another Pearl Lounge in Terminal 5 so the lounge by Gate C37 is mainly meant for people flying out from Terminal 4. The Pear Lounge C37 provides a peaceful environment due to its remote location on the second floor of the airport attracts fewer visitors.

Location

Pearl Lounge C37 is situated after the security check-in Terminal 4. When you pass the security check in Terminal 4, you just need to walk straight a few steps till you reach Gate C37. There you will find an elevator and stairs. The elevator goes straight into the lounge but the stairs end at a door and the lounge is behind it.

Passengers who pass the security in Terminal 5 need to walk about 15 minutes to reach Pearl Lounge at Gate C37 in Terminal 4. Distance-wise, the other Pearl Lounge in Terminal 5 is therefore recommended if you are a passenger clearing security in Terminal 5. Travellers who are flying out from Terminal 2 can't access lounges in Terminal 4 without taking a bus connection.

How to Get into Pearl Lounge C37?

Airline Invitation

Airlines invite their premium customers to a lounge. Airlines which do not belong to Star Alliance use typically Pearl Lounges at Arlanda Airport. Refer to your airline to get the latest lounge information.

Lounge Membership

Pearl Lounges accept many lounge memberships:

Priority Pass can be bought with money but LoungeKey membership comes only with a credit card. Diners Club and Eurocard are credit cards which have a lounge perk.

Paying at the Reception

Almost every lounge accepts payment at the reception. Walk-in price is usually expensive and therefore, we do not recommend it. You will save money by purchasing a lounge membership or prebooking a lounge visit.

Lounge Pass

Lounge Pass is a practical service to pre-book a visit to an airport lounge. At Arlanda Airport, you can purchase a single entry to Pearl Lounges in Terminals 2 and 5. Unfortunately, the Terminal 4 lounge is not included in the selection.

Our Visit to Pearl Lounge

We visited Pearl Lounge by Gate C37 before flying to Helsinki with SAS.

Pearl Lounge at Gate C37 was easy to find. We just needed to find Gate C37 and there was an elevator and stairs up. We decided to walk up and found a glass door with metal frames. At first, we were a little unsure if we had arrived at the correct place as M lounge was written in this unusual lounge instead of Pearl Lounge.

Door to Pearl Lounge
Big M letter on this door made us confused because the lounge's name is Pearl Lounge.

Arrival

The lounge looked spacious and it was almost empty. No one was at the reception. We immediately noticed a sign on the desk telling us that no alcohol was currently being served in the lounge.

A member of staff came soon and we completed the formalities fast. The service was fast but we did not get any introduction about the lounge's services. We did not get a professional impression.

Premises

The lounge was bright and more spacious than we had expected. The big premises are probably the best thing that Pearl Lounge C37 can offer. The lounge was divided into areas: the first room contained the reception and food table and in the other room, there was the coffee table and space for relaxing and working.

Pearl Lounge C37 seats
The lounge did not have a clear colour theme but the theme varied from dark-coloured furniture to bright blue chairs like these.

In the relaxation room, there were chairs and desks for working and softer chairs and sofas for relaxing. Almost every chair had a table for easier eating.

Eating tables
The lounge had a few wooden round tables for eating and the setup gave us a feeling of eating at a canteen with a great tarmac view.

The decoration of the lounge was practical and well-working. We are also sure it was modern in the 1990s but nowadays, the lounge looks outdated. Big windows to the tarmac were nice extra because they made the lounge bright.

Sofa
The lounge also had a few of these sofas. Behind this sofa was an empty huge room separated from the lounge by a grey curtain.

Food and Drinks

It is difficult to rate food and drinks because there are so few options. To be honest, this was a big disappointment in this lounge.

The lounge did not serve warm food. It had only cold meatballs, one salad, cheese and ham slices and simple bread. As a dessert, there were a few oat cookies and chips. The taste of the food was average.

Food
Pearl Lounge C37 had only a cold buffet table with very few food choices.
Bread
Bread including gluten-free breads could be found on the side table of the lounge.

As it was told at the reception, the lounge did not serve alcohol. There were only water and soft drinks from a machine and in addition, lingonberry and apple juice. The lounge did not have a special coffee machine but there was a big coffee container. However, it was probably leaking because someone had put a big plate under it. We were unsure if the coffee was meant for drinking or if they were cleaning the container.

Drinks taps
Only soft drink taps were in use at the lounge during our visit. Alcoholic beverages were not available since the lounge did not have an alcohol license according to the lounge's staff.
Coffee container
A bowl was placed under the coffee container. The lounge didn't have a special coffee machine.

These chips and cookies were the only snacks available at Pearl Lounge C37 at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

If you are hungry and looking for a decent meal like we were, Pearl Lounge C37 would not be the best choice.

Services

Arlanda Airport's Wi-Fi worked well in the lounge. Because the lounge was peaceful, it was a pleasure to work there.

There were enough power sockets. If the lounge would have been crowded, perhaps a few more power sockets could have been useful.

The lounge did not have showers but two unisex toilets. They were clean but old-style like the lounge itself.

Naturally, there was a clear flight information screen so it was easy to follow the status of our flight.

Rating

We rate this lounge as a 1.5-star lounge. The location is practical for people flying out from Terminal 4 and the lounge is peaceful. Also, if you are a plane spotter, you will love this lounge.

The decoration was old-style and the food and drink selection was not good. We can't recommend this lounge for hungry and thirsty visitors. Even though the customer service worked well, we met friendlier people elsewhere at Arlanda Airport.

Tall chair and stable
We can't deny that the lounge had a nice decoration but it was outdated.

Alcohol-free lounge

We asked the staff why alcohol was not being served in the lounge. She said that they do not have an alcohol license yet because they are a new company. We were a little surprised because there was a big Menzies logo on the wall and Menzies has been operating airport lounges at Arlanda Airport long time. We asked for more details from the staff but she could not provide more information.

It is still unclear to us why the lounge did not have an alcohol license.

Missing Customer Service

We had a negative experience at Menzies Lounges a few years ago. Specifically, it happened at Norrsken Lounge in Terminal 5, which is now known as Pearl Lounge. The lounge charged twice for a service.

We were provided 5 lounge vouchers as compensation, but we found later them to be invalid without explanation. Attempts to contact Menzies customer service were unsuccessful, and emails to managers were left unanswered. This experience has led to the perception that Menzies does not value its customers.

Bottom Line

In conclusion, Pearl Lounge C37 is a peaceful place to spend some time before your flight. The location is good as it's only a few steps away from the security, and the lounge itself is bright inside. However, we were disappointed by the very limited food choices available and so we left still feeling hungry despite visiting a premium airport lounge. For visitors looking to have their favourite alcoholic drink before flights, this lounge is alcohol-free at the moment. The lounge could benefit from some renovations and improvements to the services offered.
