We flew from Helsinki to Hurghada with Jettime. Due to a technical issue, our outbound flight was significantly delayed. Jettime handled the delay more professionally than many other airlines. Read the full story.

Jettime
Jettime is a Danish airline founded in 2020. Its predecessor, Jet Time, was founded in 2006. The airline operates a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft and flies primarily charter flights for tour operators. Jettime also provides wet lease services, leasing aircraft, crew, and maintenance to other airlines. The company is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark and has bases in Helsinki, Copenhagen and Billund. It flies to a variety of destinations in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
Jettime primarily serves passengers who book package holidays with tour operators. Due to their wet lease operations, you may fly with Jettime even if you booked your flight with a different airline.

Our Jettime Flights to Hurghada
Our travel to Hurghada was organized by a Finnish tour operator, Apollomatkat, involving charter flights operated by Jettime. In the following chapters, we will detail our experiences with Jettime. Our journey included round-trip flights between Helsinki and Hurghada, with a focus on the outbound leg in this review.

Booking
As we booked a package holiday, separate flight bookings were unnecessary. The tour operator provided us with the flight details, including booking codes. The booking process through the tour operator was seamless.
Check-in
Before our flight from Helsinki to Hurghada, we completed the online check-in process on the Jettime website. However, as we had baggage in the hold, we still had to queue at the airport to drop off our luggage. The standard ticket price did not include checked baggage, and we had to pay an additional fee. The weight limit for checked baggage was only 15 kilograms, which we found insufficient.
The hand luggage weight allowance was only 5 kilograms, one of the most restrictive.
It was not possible to choose our seats since reserved seats were a pre-charged extra service.
The baggage drop-off area at Helsinki Airport experienced a long queue, exceeding the typical waiting time at Helsinki. On average, three counters were operational. Slower service is typical with airlines that operate a few flights from Helsinki and outsource their ground handling operations.
When returning from Hurghada, the online check-in was impossible. Jettime advised arriving at the airport 3 hours before the flight. The check-in process was much faster and smoother than the pre-information suggested, so we had plenty of time to enjoy the airport's Pearl Lounge.
Departure and Delay
During the boarding, the crew served tasty Fazer chocolate. This Finnish chocolate is something everyone should try since it is just delicious. The small gesture made us welcome to the flight.
The departure proceeded as usual until the captain announced that something in the braking system was malfunctioning. After a few hours of examining the situation, the captain finally said that the aircraft couldn't fly Hurghada. He also noted that Jettime would send a new plane from Copenhagen. We understood right away that replacing the aircraft would cause a long delay. It was time to leave the plane and go back to the terminal. Luckily, Helsinki Airport is comfortable, so spending time there was not stressful. The crew served drinking cups of water before passengers deboarded.
We deboarded the aeroplane. Deboarding was relatively slow because there was a bus ride to the terminal. Finally, we were back in the non-Schengen area of the terminal.
We received an SMS stating we could collect food vouchers at the new departure gate. However, upon checking at the gate, no one was present to distribute them. Shortly after, we received another message informing us that vouchers were no longer necessary. Instead, our boarding pass QR code gave us 15 euros of credit for complimentary snacks at airport restaurants. We also got a new boarding pass and seat arrangement.
Our Priority Pass granted us a complimentary stay at the Plaza Premium Louneg. Lounge membership is a game-changer for events like these.
A new aeroplane arrived from Copenhagen after multiple hours. It was time to board the plane. We had bus rides to the aircraft again, which was slow but smooth. Everything went well, and soon, we were ready to take off.
Aircraft
The cabin was simple yet modern, featuring a Boeing Sky Interior design with slimline seats. The colour scheme was neutral. There was not much legroom for taller passengers. The cabin's overall design was basic, but it worked for a charter airline. It did not have the business class.

Onboad Services
Jettime provided free water, coffee and tea, but other drinks were paid. The ticket did not include food or snacks if you hadn't paid for them separately.
Upon takeoff, an initial beverage service was initiated, encompassing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. After that, the crew provided complimentary coffee and tea. Thereafter, the children had their meals. Finally, adults got their preordered meals. Later, there was another beverage service, and the crew sold tax-free items.

Entertainment
The aircraft lacked both an entertainment system and Wi-Fi. The only form of onboard entertainment provided was a few magazines.

Aftermath
Our flight to Hurghada was significantly delayed, exceeding 5 hours. We were entitled to €600 compensation under EU261. Filing a claim with Jettime was straightforward. The online form was easy to use, and the entire process took less than a minute.
Within a week of submitting the claim, Jettime fulfilled the compensation obligation without any objections. Fast handling represents a rare instance where we did not encounter resistance from the airline, as many carriers frequently contest such claims.

Rating
We rate Jettime 3.5 stars as a charter and wet-lease operator. The aircraft was simple but consistently clean. The airline crew provided friendly and professional service. While the flight encompasses complimentary amenities, the airline communicates the service level well on its website. The swift processing of compensation was a notable advantage. A key area for improvement would be the low baggage allowance, which we consider inadequate for holiday travel. To enhance the passenger experience, increased entertainment options on holiday charter flights would be beneficial.

Bottom Line
This marked our initial experience with Jettime. Although the airline's branding may appear somewhat unassuming, we found the charter class service good. While the flight delay was unfortunate, the airline handled the situation professionally. We have no grounds for complaint regarding the airline's service.
The return flight was uneventful. We would happily fly with Jettime again based on our positive experiences. We hope they may acquire newer aircraft, allowing them to operate longer routes. Their current fleet seems limited to short-haul destinations.
